This page contains images and information about the 2004 Annual Flyin Event

On the 18th September the 19th Annual Flyin and Barbeque took place. The flyin itself brought model flyers from all over Northern Ireland as well as number from the Republic of Ireland. The weather this year was not as favourable as other years in the recent past, and because of the exceptionally strong winds there were no full size aircraft at the event this year, however a lot of the pilots were still there, all be it via the car as a mode of transport.

One of the first to arrive at the start of every club event is Eric, and this year's flyin was no exception. Here is Eric hard at work in the tranny pound where he seemed to spend a lot of the day.
One of the first jobs was to get the catering up and running and there were 2 willing volunteers to help with getting the water, however just how far they got with the load isn't known at this time.
The weather without doubt had an effect on the number of people at the event but from early morning modellers arrived from all parts.
Although the wind never seemed to decrease during the day there were however no shortage of pilots and models of all different sizes ready to fight with the elements. Below is Karl giving a good launch to Reggie's Unicorn electric flying wing, which flew exceptionally well in the conditions or was it just the skill of the pilot !!!!

Here is Robert (middle), explaining just how to fly sucessfully in the windy conditions.
Here are a few pictures of the models in the static area most of which were also flying at some point in the day.
Then of course there were those who watched the brave flyers shouting support and other things at them when the going was getting tough.
Just as in other years past there was the large number of helicopters which seemed not to have the same problems in the wind, here are just two of them.
During the lunchtime break, Trevor was certainly doing well to eat all of the burgers he was cooking but looking at the picture below this one, you can see he certainly burned off the kcals carrying this plane back to the starting area after an excellent demonstration by Matthew.
Just because the weather was windy outside it didnt stop the indoor flying from taking place. Kevin was demonstrating what no modeller should be without during those unflyable days. He also said it was a novel way to smash any of the unwanted ornaments that happened to get in the way.
Finally on behalf of the Dungannon Model Flying Club can I take this opportunity to thank all of the those who attended the flyin and as we look forward to next year trusting that we will see you all again. Final details about next years flyin will appear on this site early in 2005.
