This page contains images and information about the 2005 Annual Flyin Event

On the 18th September the Annual Flyin and Barbeque took place. The flyin this year was not basking in sunshine as the photos will show and an additional problem for the fullsize pilots was the cross wind of around 20mph.

Malcolm may not have done a lot of flying this year but was trying out a new event lawn mower racing !!!

Then there was the 5 year old joker that decided as nobody had put up the schedule for the day there was space on the board that was just going to waste.
As mentioned earlier it wasnt the best of days for outdoor sports, but surely it wasnt as bad as the picture above shows.
Well just a shot to show the crosswind component and the difficluties this give to particularly the fullsize pilots who flew into the event, and conditions got even worse during the departure.
The full size aircraft arrived from Newtownards, Donegal and Tandragee.

Three of the full size pilots from Donegal having enjoyed the tailwind on the way to the event were bracing themsleves for the return trip with strong headwinds.

Here are a few pictures of the models in the static area most of which were also flying at some point in the day.
For the first time local model shops supplied prizes for a draw and below Eric and Reggie making the draw. Special thanks goes to the shops
The Helicopter Experts also put on several excellent demonstartion flights, which confirm I had made the correct decision not to bring mine to the flyin.
During the departure slots a westerly wind was gusting between 15 - 20 mph, but nothing was too difficult for the experts !!!!
With all of the Full Size aircraft on their way home was time for another break, Dick and Gordon certainly thought so.

Probally the biggest model present of the day was this Cub all the way from Londonderry, and it wasnt the first flyin it was at as the airframe is almost 30 years old.
Not only did Reggie provide entertainment during the prize draw but he still managed to preform a test flight on this new electric model.
Finally on behalf of the Dungannon Model Flying Club can I take this opportunity to thank all of the those who attended the flyin and as we look forward to next year trusting that we will see you all again. Final details about next years flyin will appear on this site early in 2006.
